"Frozen Trail," the upcoming update for ARC Raiders, represents the game's largest content expansion to date and is scheduled to launch on October 8.
This update introduces a brand-new map - Pendola Pass - along with several new ARC unit types, a reworked progression system and skill tree, new weapons, tactical gear, and a customizable "Raider Den" outpost.
This overview provides a detailed breakdown of the new map environment, the characteristics of all new ARC enemies, and core gameplay changes, helping players familiarize themselves with the update and prepare for their first forays into the new territory.
New Map: Pendola Pass
Nestled in the mountains on the outskirts of the Rust Belt, Pendola Pass is a frozen settlement from the Old World and currently the largest map in the game.
The area features abandoned Italian-style villages, supermarkets, and town squares, alongside remnants of the Exodus Project such as an observatory and a deep-underground train transfer station. The map boasts a strong sense of verticality, with interconnected layers spanning ground level, underground tunnels, and high-altitude platforms; this offers diverse exploration routes and supports a wide range of extraction tactics.
The map's central landmark is the wreckage of the "Emperor" - a massive ARC machine. It is a hotspot for both high-value loot and intense combat. The map also features a random "Flash Freeze" extreme weather event; the plummeting temperatures limit visibility and inflict environmental damage, forcing players to seek shelter from the blizzard.
The update also introduces the high-difficulty "Frigate" event. Players can board a massive ARC warship cruising through the sky, engaging ARC forces within the cramped confines of the vessel - hundreds of meters above the ground - to vie for high-value rewards.
New ARC Enemies
"Frozen Trail" introduces a host of new ARC enemies. These units feature AI behaviors distinct from those in previous versions, fundamentally altering the tactical approach players must take in combat. - Skulker: Small in stature and adept at stealth, this enemy sneaks up behind players for surprise attacks that are difficult to detect early. It avoids direct confrontation; if targeted by concentrated fire, it quickly retreats to await another ambush opportunity. It poses a significant threat in ruined villages and underground tunnels.
- Bully: A heavy, horse-like mechanical unit capable of high-speed charging attacks that deal massive damage and easily knock players down upon impact. It relentlessly pursues its targets, so players must use terrain obstacles to interrupt its charge rather than trying to kite it in open areas for too long.
- Hydra: A stationary multi-turret machine featuring three independent attack modules capable of firing in multiple directions simultaneously to suppress several players at once. A direct frontal assault is ill-advised; players must find gaps between the turrets and destroy the attack modules one by one.
Additionally, upgraded ARC Guards will spawn inside the frigate; they feature heavier armor and superior coordinated combat capabilities, meaning a single squad error can easily lead to a total wipeout. These new ARC enemies, combined with blizzard weather conditions, further ramp up the PvE challenge, so players should stock up on supplies and protective gear before venturing in.
New Items, Weapons, and Progression Updates
1. The new version introduces two brand-new firearms - the Stiletto combat rifle and the Bantam snub-nosed revolver - alongside tactical items like the Grappling Hook and Tractor Grenade. The Grappling Hook allows for rapid cliff traversal and access to high platforms, making it perfectly suited for the verticality of the Pendola Pass map; it is highly practical for repositioning, flanking, or emergency evacuations.
2. The progression system has undergone a major overhaul, with a reworked Skill Tree offering more diverse development paths. Players can now build, decorate, and upgrade Outposts, as well as unlock weapon modification blueprints at research stations - marking the first time players possess a stronghold capable of launching counter-attacks against the ARC.
3. A wide array of new ARC Raiders items - including weapon attachments, high-tier armor, and rare research materials - can be obtained within the Pendola Pass map and during frigate events.
Early-Game Strategy
Beginners should prioritize familiarizing themselves with the map in village areas rather than rushing straight to the Frigate at the start. If a "Flash Freeze" cold wave warning appears, immediately mark a nearby shelter and avoid lingering in the open.
When facing new ARC enemies, try to avoid challenging "Bully" and "Hydra" units solo. In a team, assign clear roles: one player should focus on distracting the enemy while the other targets weak points to deal damage. During combat inside the Frigate, manage noise levels carefully, as excessive gunfire will attract additional ARC reinforcements.
To quickly enjoy the new version, players often need to repeatedly tackle high-difficulty zones - a process that can be very time-consuming. Many players choose to buy ARC Raiders items directly from IGGM, bypassing the tedious grind to focus entirely on the fun of exploring the new map and battling brand-new ARC units.
